WiFi Woes? 8 ways to improve spotty internet connection
Published: Aug 29, 2021Unreliable Wi-Fi is frustrating; here are some things you can do to improve your connectivity.
#1 Keep your router in a central spot
For even coverage throughout your home, place your router at a central location.
#2 Place your router in an open area, apart from other electronics
Electronics like your TV, computer or radio might interfere with the Wi-Fi signal. And let your router be free: avoid placing it in a cupboard or enclosed space.
#3 Point your antenna
If your router has one antenna, point it vertically. This position emits horizontal Wi-Fi signals. For a router with two antennas, point one vertically and the other horizontally for fuller coverage.
#4 Buy a booster to extend your Wi-Fi range
Consider getting a Wi-Fi booster or extender to increase your Wi-Fi range and eliminate dead zones.
#5 Password protect your Wi-Fi
Stop Wi-Fi leeches by setting a password for your Wi-Fi via your router’s admin page.
#6 Update your router firmware
Check for software updates on the router admin page. Buggy or outdated software can impact Wi-Fi performance.
