Design and Display
The iPhone SE sports a premium glass-and-aluminum design that is similar to iPhone 8's. The phone’s 4.7-inch screen and thick bezels may not be appealing to those used to an all-screen design, but unlike the massive iPhone 11 Pro Max and the newer iPhone 12 Pro Max, the iPhone SE is compact, lightweight, and easy to hold and carry around in the pocket.
Apple also brought back the beloved (by some) home button and Touch ID instead of Face ID.
Camera
Just like iPhone 8, the iPhone SE features a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 7MP front camera. But with the latter’s inclusion of the A13 Bionic chip, camera performance shines. Photos are bright, and you are able to control the depth of field.
The phone’s Smart HDR combines your best shots to produce the best photo. Night photographers should know, however, that the iPhone SE lacks a Night Mode.
Battery
The phone’s compact size also means that battery life is compromised on the iPhone SE. Compared to the 17 hours of video playback that Apple claims the iPhone 11 delivers, the iPhone SE delivers just 13 hours. Unless you’re a light user, this phone will not be able to last you a full day.
The good news is that the phone supports fast charging and wireless charging. You will, however, have to purchase separate charging bricks and devices to support these functions as you will not get it right out of the box.
Value for Money
Marketed as the most affordable iPhone, the iPhone SE is one of the best budget phones you can get on the market. At $649, you get a phone with stellar performance, a great camera, and a compact design.
